Caracteristics

• The enchanting temple of Banteay Srei is nearly everyone's favourite site. It is an exquisite miniature : the special charm of this temple lies in its excellence of preservation, small size and delicacy of its intricate decoration carved in pinkish sandstone that covers the walls like tabestry.
• Banteay Srei is routinely described as a 'precious gem' and a 'jewel of Khmer art'.
• This monument was the first one restored using the process of anastylosis
• Its name remind the André Malraux affair in 1923 (*)

Comments

• This enchanting temple cannot be compared to anything else. You can easily spend hours to observe in detail real lace of flowers and mythology scenes, mostly related to the Ramayana legend. (See Chapter « Religion » and « Cultural Glossary »
