The secret garden of Ratanakiri

The Ratanakiri province is in full contrast to the rest of Cambodia.
This hilly region in the North East of Cambodia, between Laos and Vietnam is sparsely inhabited, mainly by Khmer Leu tribes (Jaraï 20 %, Kreung 20 % et Tampoun 25 %). They are maintaining their traditional way of life in a genuine landscape of lakes, waterfalls and jungle. For centuries, in their ancestral forest they scarcely have enough to live on by hunting and by itinerant farming.

Ratanakiri is a region of high plateau covered by bamboo and timber forests. The nature is superb and presents a lot of waterfalls as well as precious stones mines. The wildlife like bears, tigers and many sorts of birds is abounding.

Yaklom is a very nice volcanic lake that you may not miss. Furthermore, this is the place to bath with a pleasure commensurate to the length of the Safari of the day.

The region and its population have suffered American bombing which were supposed to destroy the so called Ho Chi Min track during the 70th. The country being at last also clear of the Khmers rouges and the antipersonnel mines, the tribes enjoy again the serenity of their ancestral customs.
