in a spirit of broad tolerance, this temple contained 260
divinities to bring together local animist gods and Hindu

Caracteristics
|
• This temple has
been left untouched to show an example of the appearance of
the Khmer Monuments when they were “discovered” in the 19rh
century and because the roots are now the support of the
monument.
• The temple was surrounded by a wall of 3km long to
accommodate the 12640 inhabitants mentioned in the temple’s
inscriptions. |

• Invaded by the
roots of giant banyan trees and ficus religiosa, the
atmosphere of this temple has inspired a lot of writers
• The complexity of the construction - inaugurations and of
the galleries as well as the bad state of the monument
requires the escort of a guide.

and Angkor Wat |
